The SIYU AWARD, formerly «vfg Young Talent Award for Photography», honours ten works out of all entries. They are presented in an exhibition which is organised as a major venue in Zurich, Switzerland. Thanks to the newly created Alois Ottiger Grant, in memory of Swiss photographer Alois Ottiger, a 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize will be awarded.

All Swiss citizens and foreign nationals residing in Switzerland at the time of submission are eligible to enter the competition. Entrants must be aged 38 or under on the closing date, so you can submit your entry up until the day before your 39th birthday.
Only original work created by the participant is eligible. There is no set theme; the subject may be chosen freely. An entry must comprise a series of 3 to 8 images, a brief project statement (aprox. 1000 characters), a short CV and a presentation plan outlining how the work is intended to be displayed. All submissions must remain anonymous to the jury. The participant's first and last name must not appear in any file names, images, text, or presentation materials.

The registration fee is CHF 50 per project submitted.

In addition, each of the ten finalists whose works have been selected for the exhibition will receive a financial contribution towards production costs. Furthermore, there will be a catalogue showcasing the ten works.
An experienced jury of three experts in the field of photography selects ten works from all entries and determines the winners. The jury's decision is final. All pictures must be exhibited as submitted to the jury.
Participants will be informed about the progress of the award via the homepage. The ten finalists will be notified by telephone immediately after the final jurying. These ten works will be exhibited and the winners will be announced to the press and the public during the award ceremony at the exhibition opening.
The insurance of the works shown in the exhibition is the responsibility of the participants. The SIYU AWARD declines all responsibility (e.g. in the event of damage or theft). Participants undertake to ensure that all submitted works are free from third-party rights (e.g. third-party copyrights, design rights, personal rights), or that these have been properly cleared. Participants shall indemnify the organiser SIYU AWARD against any infringement of third-party rights.
