Getxophoto International Image Festival is organised by Begihandi Kultur Elkartea, a non-profit organisation.

Deadline

The submission deadline for Getxophoto Open Call is November 28, 2022, 11:59 p.m. UTC +1, Spanish time CET. The deadline may be extended at Begihandi / Getxophoto's sole discretion.

Participation fee

20€. The participation fee allows Begihandi / Getxophoto to partially cover the administrative expenses required for this Open Call. The fee will not be refundable.

Judging criteria

An international jury will decide by mutual agreement on the shortlisted projects and the winners of the Open Call, taking into account the artistic criteria, the conceptual development of the submitted work as well as its relation and appropriateness to the proposed theme. Gender parity and inclusion criteria will also be taken into account. The jury's decision is final.

Exhibition

The size, format and content of the exhibition will be defined by mutual agreement between the artists, the curator and the organisation. The organisation will define and manage the budget, as well as the venues and communication around the projects.

Prizes

The Festival will cover the exhibition costs, as well a 400€ fee per project (taxes included) plus a travel allowance (150€ for international artists and 100€ for national artists) and accommodation for 2 nights during the Opening Week of the Festival (1-4 June 2023) for the winners. Additional supplements –double rooms, per diems, etc.– will be paid by the artists.

Authorisations & Rights

• Copyright over each entry remains the property of its respective entrant.

• Entrants must confirm that they are the authors and copyright owners of all images/work submitted and that their work does not infringe the privacy, copyright or any other rights of any person.

• Entrants guarantee that they have the explicit consent of all people who are pictured in their submitted images/work (the legal guardian, in the case of children) to exhibit and publish the images as described in these terms and conditions.

• By participating, the selected entries may be reproduced by Begihandi / Getxophoto in its publications, website, social media and/or any promotional material, being credited and only for promotional use (not for commercial use). 2 images from each selected entry may be released to the press to illustrate an article or report that reviews or reports on the Open Call or the Getxophoto Festival and the organisation will not be required to pay any additional fee or request any additional approval in relation to such use.

Personal Data

• Publication of personal data
  The entrant agrees that their full name, place of birth and respective URL may be published in combination with their submission. Further contact information will not be published.

• Storage of personal data
  All personal data provided during the registration and submission process will be stored for the management and selection of the entries by the organisers, as well as for statistical purposes in an anonymous form. Personal data will not be forwarded to third parties, and Picter platform is compliant with the EU General Data Protection Regulations.

• Archiving submissions.
  The entrant agrees that the submissions will be archived, regardless of whether they are selected or not. The entrant may revoke this consent via e-mail (to getxophoto@getxophoto.com). In the event of a revocation, the respective images will be deleted.

Liability

• Begihandi / Getxophoto accepts no responsibility for entries that are lost or damaged in transit or for any problems with or technical malfunction of any device, system, server or provider, software, human error or any combination of the above. Begihandi / Getxophoto reserves the right to reject entries that are submitted without the required information, or that do not meet the eligibility criteria.

• Begihandi / Getxophoto reserves the right to make possible changes to the Open Call rules, which must be communicated to the public with due notice. If for any reason a selected participant is not able to exhibit as planned, the participant must, whenever possible, notify the organisers at least 90 days in advance prior to the launch of the Festival on 1 June 2023.

• Begihandi / Getxophoto reserves the right to deal with any aspect not foreseen in these terms and conditions in the way they deem appropriate. In the event of insurmountable disagreements between the artist and Begihandi / Getxophoto, the organisation reserves the right to withdraw the work from the exhibition.
