“CLICCA QUI PER IL REGOLAMENTO IN LINGUA ITALIANA”

About

The BìFoto Award is the biennial competition through which three photographic projects are selected to be exhibited, alongside leading national and international photographers, at the 16th edition of BìFoto Fest – International Festival of Photography in Sardinia (Italy), which will open in Mogoro on October 10, 2026.

Each year, the Festival’s artistic directors assign a theme to the edition, drawing inspiration from a song or an album by renowned Italian and international artists. From De André to Eddie Vedder, from Vinicio Capossela to Subsonica, as well as Brunori Sas and Johnny Cash, photographers are invited to reflect on and engage with major contemporary issues.

The song chosen as the guiding thread of the 16th edition of BìFoto Fest is “Dio è morto” by the Italian band Nomadi, a song that speaks of disillusionment and a sense of loss, portraying a world that feels adrift, yet still hinting at the possibility of a fragile but necessary renewal.

About BìFoto Fest

BìFoto Fest was founded in 2011 by Stefano Pia and Vittorio Cannas with the aim of promoting photographic culture and expanding its meaning, starting from its own land: Sardinia. Over the years, the Festival has hosted photographers from both the national and international scene, while also dedicating significant space to emerging talents.

Thanks to sixteen years of experience, BìFoto Fest is now a well-established point of reference among photography events.

Since 2018, the Festival’s exhibitions have been displayed throughout the streets of the town, transforming the historic center of Mogoro into an open-air museum with more than 400 works, freely accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Over the years, BìFoto Fest has featured internationally renowned photographers such as Guido Harari, Dario Coletti, Søren Solkær, Uğur Gallenkuş, Alain Laboile, Simone Sbaraglia, Alessandro Grassani, Antonio Manta, Sara Munari, Uliano Lucas, Lea Eouzan, Giulia Bersani, Niki Gleoudi and Fausto Podavini.

Judging criteria

The Festival jury will select, at its sole discretion, three winning projects based on the following criteria:

Relevance of the images to the chosen theme

Strength of the narrative

Originality of the work

Artistic quality of the images

In the event of a high number of submissions, the Organization reserves the right to pre-select projects before submitting them to the Official Jury, and to publicly announce a shortlist of finalist projects prior to the final selection of the winners.
