About
un/fund invites exceptional un/der represented visual artists worldwide to apply for four unique opportunities – an artist residency, a publishing deal, mentorship award, and direct funding. This year’s open call celebrates creative vision and growth through creation, connection and support.
What winners receive
Winners will receive the following opportunities:
- A fully-funded four-week artist residency at NUMEROVENTI in Florence, Italy. (https://numeroventi.it/Artist-Residency)
- A published photobook, designed and distributed by Libraryman. (https://www.libraryman.se/)
- A year-long dialogue-based mentorship with visual consultant Katharina Uhe. A unique opportunity to develop or reframe a current project, or more broadly your artistic practice.
- Direct funding of €10,000 for your proposed project.
About un/produced
Sponsored by the non-profit production house un/produced, to inspire and fund the next wave of un/supported photographers and filmmakers.
How to enter
We welcome submissions from emerging, lens-based visual artists who are not currently signed or represented by any agency or gallery, and who have under 7 years of industry experience. Eligible applicants include photographers, directors, cinematographers and videographers. Only artists working in lens-based practices will be considered.
Please include the following in your submission:
- A written outline of your project, demonstrating the originality of your proposal and how you imagine the final outcome (for example, a photo series, a publication, or film)
- Up to 20 supporting images and relevant text materials that help communicate your concept.
- For the un/fund publishing award, in collaboration with Libraryman, you may include up to 40 images.
- A project timeline indicating key stages of development and production.
- A budget breakdown outlining how you plan to realise your project.
- A funding suitability reference: A short statement explaining why you're a good fit for un/fund. It should outline how your artistic goals and current circumstances align with our mission. This may be written by you or by someone who knows your work (e.g., a teacher, mentor, or collaborator)
