The Street Photography Barcelona Contest (SPBC) was created with the aim of giving international visibility to professional and amateur photographers who work in street photography with honesty and creativity. The festival offers a physical and virtual exhibition space where their works can be seen, appreciated, recognized, and even acquired.
For SPBC, the essence of street photography lies in the ability to observe what happens in the environment and capture the authenticity of a unique moment of reality. It's about recognizing and recording those unique moments that urban areas and their anonymous characters offer us anywhere in the world, transforming them into unique works of art.
From all the participants, 25 artists will be selected, whose works will be published on our website and will be part of a six-day collective exhibition at the Galerie Art Nomade in Barcelona.
The organization will fully cover the costs of printing, framing, and installation, ensuring that the images receive the recognition they deserve in the Born neighborhood, one of Barcelona's most vibrant cultural centers.
During these six days, the SPBC will be a meeting point for local, national, and international photographers, as well as the public, who will have the opportunity to purchase the works on display if their creators allow it.
The festival will also feature workshops and a talk led by the three finalist photographers, who will share their experience, creative process, and vision of street photography.
SPBC is collaborating with the Ibiza Independent Film Festival (Ibizacinefest) on the programming of the "Film and Photography" section, dedicated to feature-length documentaries featuring photography. Within the "Film and Photography" section, the festival will screen a 45-minute audiovisual montage featuring the SPBC finalist works.
Furthermore, the three award-winning works at the SBPC will have a special place: they will be screened at the beginning of the sessions on the festival's final weekend, integrating the power of the still image with the narrative power of cinema.
With this new partnership, Ibizacinefest and Street Photography Barcelona reinforce their commitment to experimentation and dialogue between different art forms, offering the public an experience where film and photography meet, interact, and mutually enhance each other.
Open to photographers of any nationality, over 18 years of age.
Both color and black and white images are accepted.
Submitted photographs must reflect the essence of street photography: spontaneous and taken in public or social spaces.
Journalistic photographs and portraits with non-natural light sources are not accepted. Works generated using artificial intelligence or digitally manipulated images that alter the originality of the work will not be accepted.
Images captured anywhere in the world and at any time are accepted, with a maximum age of two years.
Each participant may submit 1, 3, or 5 photographs, which will be evaluated individually. Submitting a larger number of entries increases the chances of selection.
