Andrew Wong is an independent photographer and consultant based in Beijing. He worked as news photographer and sub-editor for United Press International since 1983, and later joined Reuters. In a span of 20 years, he worked as sub-editor, photographer, chief photographer and deputy news pictures editor at different Reuters news bureaux and headquarters including Hong Kong, London, Singapore and Beijing. From 1998 to 2004, he worked as chief photographer at Reuters Beijing bureau where he took care of the greater China region. Upon joining Getty Images at the end of 2004, he set up and was in charge of their first editorial headquarters in China. He was a member of the nomination committee for the World Press Photo Joop Swart Masterclass from 2000 to 2018, and served as jury member of the World Press Photo Contest in 1998 and 2003 respectively.
