The objective of the Residency Call is to select eight artists who work in the field of photography or analog processes so that they share space and knowledge for a week and can thus develop their practices and projects individually and collectively, coinciding with the Contemporary Analog Photography Festival, Revela'T. The Residency will take place from June 4 to 11, 2023 and as a result of this, the selected group will hold an exhibition at Revela'T 2024. The aim of the activity is to carry out a cultural and artistic exchange to promote and develop a common project among the participants: a project that goes beyond the mere sum of individual works. The aim is to bring together several photographers, each with their own vision, sensitivity, approach and experience, knowledge and techniques, and to achieve a communicating vessels effect, in which to learn and permeate the knowledge of the other participants. This working environment will allow the sharing of concepts and procedures, as well as working with the different techniques, methods and processes chosen by the participants.

What winners receive

Accommodation during the entire stay that includes a swimming pool and other facilities, as well as breakfast and lunch on weekdays, are covered by the festival. (from June 4 to 11).

Two tutors will be helping you and guiding you through the project development, after the Residency, you’ll have two meetings with them to talk about your project and prepare your exhibition at Revela’T 2024.

Participation in the Exclusive Brunch with the authors of the Edition, as well as the gallery owners, curators and other experts in the field. And a FULL PASS to go to all the activities involved in REVELA’T 2023.

By participating in the Residency, the authors are directly selected for the 2024 Revela’T exhibition, without having to go through any other selection process.

About Revela'T

Revela’T Contemporary Analog Photography Festival is the first analog festival in the world and it’s held every year in Vilassar de Dalt (Barcelona, Spain). The festival is a one month celebration around analog photography that includes a market, activities, workshops, portfolio review, residencies… all of this activities accompany the backbone of the festival, the exhibitions.

Revela’T is considered a festival of reference for the cultural scene in Spain. The festival encompasses in the same space relevant artists such as Jeff Bridges, Alberto Garcia Alix, Joan Fontcuberta, Deanna Dikeman, Alessandra Sanguinetti, Alexey Titarenko, Vanessa Winship, Luis González Palma, and a lot of emerging proposals, some of them exhibiting for the first time with us.

The familiar approach of the festival makes the author’s comfortable and accompanied during the whole process of making the exhibition a reality. During the Main weekend of the festival, all the authors get together and meet in person, a lot of activities and encounters are prepared like a brunch with gallerists, curators, editors and other professionals of the industry, guided tours, media presence, conferences… One of the most valuable things that you’ll get from Revela’T is the important contacts you’ll meet and the relationships that you’ll create in here.

Judging criteria

All photographers of any nationality, origin or place of residence, older than 18 years or with a permission of their legal tutor, who work mainly in the field of chemical or analogue photography and who are willing to work personally or as a team during this exchange, may apply. The project must be started during the festival, but the author will have the whole year to finish it. The selection of the candidates will take into account the professional career, the interest of the work, the adequacy of the work to Revela’T resources as well as the technique or techniques used and the contribution it can make to the artistic exchange. The selection of the participants will be decided by the organization and the two coordinators and will be unappealable. Mastery of specific photographic techniques that can provide the rest of the group an added value will be well considered
