About

Theme 2026: “20 Ways to Escape”

In a world saturated with images and technological promises, to keep looking in wonder is already an act of freedom.

"20 Ways to Escape" is an open invitation to explore routes of escape–real or symbolic–from whatever confines us: routine, memory, borders, digital noise, even our own image. We are not here to tell you what to show; we want to accompany your gaze. What are you escaping from? Where to? What ways have you found to slip away?

The theme is deliberately broad. We welcome literal or metaphorical, intimate, social, political, poetic, or formal interpretations. We seek diversity and heterogeneity; we will take care of weaving curatorial coherence to articulate a shared exhibition narrative.

What we are looking for

  • Projects created with analog photography or photochemical/alternative processes (film in all formats, historical processes, hybrid workflows with analog output, photograms, cyanotypes, platinum – palladium, etc.).

  • Series completed or in an advanced stage, suitable for production or transport and gallery exhibition.

  • Projects that engage–directly or indirectly–with "20 Ways to Escape."

We value proposals with a clear curatorial concept, suggested display/mediation strategies, and well-defined technical materials.

About Revela'T

Revela't – Festival of Contemporary Analog Photography is the first analog photography festival in the world, held annually in Vilassar de Dalt (Barcelona, Spain). The 2025 edition, themed "I've Seen Things You Wouldn't Believe...", brought together artists such as Masahisa Fukase, Rodney Smith, Gideon Mendel, Juan Manuel Díaz Burgos, Javier Arcenillas, Laura Aubrée and Ramsés Silva, Carlos Canal, Konrad Dobrucki, Lluís Estopiñan, Jaume Parera and Joan Sorolla, Markel Redondo, Dmytro Kupriyan, Lucien Lung, Ana Tornel, Axel Serrat, Iván Franco Fraga, Photobook Art Books, Tanya Sharapova, Malu Reigal, Herbert Mulanovich, Vincent Wechselberger, Gareth Phillips, Carla Oset, and Fred Ritchin.

In previous editions we have hosted exhibitions by Cristina de Middel, Richard Renaldi, Annie Wang, Ari Versluis & Ellie Uyttenbroek, Jim Goldberg, Jeff Bridges, Bruce Gilden, David Burnett, Alberto García-Alix, Isabel Muñoz, J. M. Castro Prieto, Joan Fontcuberta, Ramon Masats, Deanna Dikeman, Alessandra Sanguinetti, Alexey Titarenko, Vanessa Winship, Luis González Palma, among others, alongside emerging proposals and first exhibitions.

A close, supportive approach– curatorial and technical–is part of Revela't's DNA. During the Main Weekend, artists, gallerists, editors, and curators come together for guided tours, professional meet-ups, and a networking brunch.

Judging criteria

An international jury will assess:

  1. Conceptual strength and authorial contribution in relation to "20 Ways to Escape."
  2. Formal and technical quality of the analog work or process used.
  3. Exhibition potential: clarity in gallery context; proposed display/mediation.
  4. Production feasibility (formats, materials, timeline, and estimated budget).

Originality and coherence of the series.

The jury's decision is final.
