This phrase, from the iconic final monologue Tears in Rain in the movie Blade Runner, reminds us that sometimes the most extraordinary experiences go unnoticed or "vanish in the rain..." With this idea, we invite you to participate in the 13th edition of the Revela't Festival.
Today, in a world where the constant flow of images and the rise of AI have blurred the lines between what is real and what is imagined, it may seem like nothing can surprise us anymore. But this is where your vision comes in. You too have seen things that will surely surprise many...
As always, the theme is very open. We don't want to tell you what to show; rather, we want to be part of your unique perspective. What have you captured that others may not have seen or imagined? We are looking for anything that can surprise us. We understand that the collection of works may be diverse and heterogeneous, and it is precisely this variety that we value. We will be the ones to provide curatorial coherence to the pieces, connecting the different perspectives into a cohesive visual narrative.
We want to turn Revela't into a space for the unexpected, where the images challenge us, provoke questions, reflections, move us, and push boundaries...
Help us rediscover analog photography and remind us that there is still so much to explore.
The call for exhibition aims to select three projects carried out in the field of photography or analog processes to be produced (or transported) and exhibited at the next edition of the Revela't Festival during May and June 2025.
The exhibition opportunity at the festival includes support for travel and accommodation for the winners, international promotion, and networking opportunities with other professionals in the cultural and specifically photographic field.
The call is open to all photographers who have an analog project and the ambition, desire, and motivation to showcase it to the world. Revela't is a platform for projection that embraces and welcomes both internationally renowned photographers and emerging talents every year because we believe in the power of projects and in providing opportunities to authors who have not yet established a consolidated trajectory. Revela't means international projection at any stage of the author's journey.
All participants, whether selected or not, will have the opportunity to share their work in a digital projection that will take place at the main venue of the festival.
1st prize: €1,500 (subject to taxes)
2nd prize: €1,000 (subject to taxes)
3rd prize: €500 (subject to taxes)
Note: The prizes include the corresponding taxes, which will be deducted before the net amount is awarded.
EVERYBODY
All the submitters will have the opportunity to exhibit their project on a screening during the whole month of the festival that will take place in the same space as the rest of the exhibitions.
The Revela't Festival of Contemporary Analog Photography is the first analog photography festival in the world, held annually in Vilassar de Dalt (Barcelona, Spain). It is a month-long celebration of analog photography that includes a market, activities, workshops, portfolio reviews, residencies, and other events. These activities complement the essence of the festival, which are the exhibitions.
Revela't is considered a leading festival in Spain's cultural scene. It brings together renowned artists and emerging talents, some of whom are exhibiting for the first time.
In the past edition, participants included Cristina de Middel, Richard Renaldi, Annie Wang, Jordi Baron, Quim Vives, Dita Pepe, Roman Manfredi, Ari Versluis & Ellie Uyttenbroek, Ignacio Coló, Ignacio Navas, Curtis Hughes, Miguel A. Cruzado, Rubén H. Bermúdez, Col. Santos Montes, Óscar Laser, Sam Wright, Seunguu Kim, Arne Piepke, Gunnar Knechtel, Serbest Salih, Col. Sala Losdijck, Alexandre Folgoso, Thomas Jenkins, Andrej Lamut, Julee Pinto, Santiago Martínez, Andie Riekstina, Javier Talavera, Ria Wank, and the exhibition "Photobooks and Identity" by Photo Art Books BCN.
We have hosted exhibitions by Jim Goldberg, Jeff Bridges, Bruce Gilden, David Burnett, Alberto García Alix, Isabel Muñoz, J.M. Castro Prieto, Joan Fontcuberta, Ramon Masats, Deanna Dikeman, Alessandra Sanguinetti, Alexey Titarenko, Vanessa Winship, Luis González Palma, among many others. Of course, emerging proposals are also presented, with some exhibiting for the first time.
The festival's approachable and personal touch makes the artists feel comfortable and supported throughout the entire process of preparing their exhibitions. During the festival's main weekend, all the artists gather in person, and various activities and meetings are organized, such as a brunch with gallerists, curators, editors, and other industry professionals, guided tours, media presence, conferences, among others. One of the most valuable aspects of Revela't is the important contacts that participants meet and the relationships built in this space.
An international jury will value - but it won’t be mandatory- the projects with an exhibition proposal and the contemporary ones. The work must have relation with the theme of the edition “IDENTITY”. The jury’s decision can not be revoked.
