TERMS AND CONDITIONS 2024

The Rencontres de la Photographie de Marrakech is pleased to announce a public international Open Call for artists.

Submission Period

Submissions are open from May 27, 2024, to June 25, 2024, 23:59 Central European Time (UTC/GMT+1).

Selection Process

An international jury will select up to 20 artists and 30 finalists based on their submitted artworks and proposals. The selected artists will be notified by email by June 28, 2024, and the results will be published on the festival website, rencontres-photos.com, by the end of June 2024. Each jury member works independently to review the submissions. The jury’s decision is final.

Awards and Exhibitions

• Winners: Each winner will receive a screening exhibition of their project during the 4th edition of Les Rencontres de la Photographie in Marrakech, as well as a printed exhibition at Les OFF des Rencontres d'Arles 2024. For the screening in Marrakech, each photographer can either create their own video or use a videographer provided by the festival. The printed exhibition at the OFF in Arles, titled "The Language of Pictures," will be held at CIQ de la Roquette in Place Paul Doumer, Arles, from July 1 to 7, 2024. It will feature two photographs from each winning project, selected by one of our jurors. This innovative exhibition allows the public to arrange the images, creating a unique and ever-changing display with each interaction.
• Finalists: Each finalist will have two photos from their project, selected by a juror, screened during the 4th edition of Les Rencontres de la Photographie in Marrakech. A single video, created by a Festival videographer, will showcase all finalists’ works together.

Submission Requirements

• Each project should consist of 10 to 20 images.
• Submissions are limited to photography only.
• There is no restriction on the creation date of the artworks; works created in 2024 or earlier are accepted.
• Multiple projects can be submitted, but each project must be submitted separately.
• Submissions must be made via the online platform Picter and include all required information. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Fees

• A submission fee of 15 EUR is required for each project.
• The fee is non-refundable, regardless of acceptance or unforeseen circumstances.

Copyright and Usage Rights

• The copyright of the images remains with the artist.
• The Festival will credit all images with the artist’s name when used during the exhibition and for promotional purposes in digital, print, and television media related to The Rencontres de la Photographie de Marrakech.
• The Festival reserves the right to reproduce and exhibit the submitted images at no cost in all media, including marketing materials, publications, and online platforms, solely in connection with The Rencontres de la Photographie de Marrakech. Artists will be credited whenever their images are used.
• By submitting, entrants represent and warrant that they are the authors and owners of the copyright to all submitted images and that their entries do not infringe on any rights of any person.

Voix Plurielles organizes Les Rencontres de la Photographie in Marrakech. Cultures Nomades Production co-produces the Marrakech festival and partners with the OFFs of Les Rencontres d'Arles.

Funding and Production

All funds received are used for event production, promotion, and supporting artists and their work. The Festival covers the production costs of the screening and the exhibition.

Archival Use

Artworks from the exhibition will remain in the secure archives of The Rencontres de la Photographie de Marrakech and will be used solely for archival purposes or for subsequent traveling exhibitions. Artists will be informed about any changes regarding the exhibition.

Amendments to Terms

The Festival reserves the right to update, change, or replace any part of these Terms and Conditions by posting updates and/or changes on the Festival website.
