Frequently asked questions

All essays must contain 5 to 10 photos.

Photos must be taken in Ibero-America, except in Ibero-Americans in the World and/or Photographer of the Year.

Images do not need to have been published.

Anyone may participate; most participants are professional photographers or videographers.

Images must have been created between January 1, 2023, and July 29, 2025, except in Our Gaze, Reframing the Archive, and Long-Term Projects, which have no date limit.

Captions must be embedded in the IPTC metadata field—not written over the image. Use tools like Bridge or Photo Mechanic.

Deadline: August 17, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. (Quito/Bogotá time).
