Karen Harvey MBE is the Founder and Creative Director of Shutter Hub, the UK based photography organisation providing opportunities, support and networking for creative photographers worldwide. She founded the organisation to create a supportive community for photographers and to provide a platform for the development of ideas and careers. Karen has extensive experience of working within the photography industry, from curating exhibitions, publishing books and judging several photographic awards, to funding, commissioning and consulting, as well as undertaking her own photographic practice. Karen has reviewed portfolios for a number of festivals and organisations, including Vogue, Getty Images and the World Photography Organisation. In 2021 Karen launched Shutter Hub Editions, a publishing house dedicated to creating photography books. Producing publications that have been acquired by national libraries, galleries, and photography institutions worldwide. With over two decades of experience, a strong curatorial background and a passion for accessible, impactful storytelling, Karen's work provides a platform and support for photographers at all levels.
President of the OF Outono Fotográfico Association, he was director of the Outono Fotográfico festival and co-founder of the Galicia Contemporary Photography Award. Creative director of Disigna Edenia Buldin and the cultural and publishing company Difusora de Letras, Artes e Ideas. As a designer, he has worked on everything from advertising and corporate design to ephemeral architecture, signage and exhibition furniture. As an activist, he has curated, produced and directed exhibition projects, cultural events and editorial publications imbricated in the Galician nation-space, with the aim of activating attitudes of contemporary re-reading and production. Visual artist with a special focus on photography.
Tiago Casanova studied Architecture at Faculdade de Arquitetura da Universidade do Porto, where he was one of the founders of Scopio - International Photography Magazine in 2010. He was also one of the founders of the XYZ Books Publishing house and Bookshop in 2013, A ILHA (Gallery and Art Space) in 2014, and Estúdio Bulhufas in 2017. Has been exhibiting his work regularly in solo and group shows since 2006. Besides the work he produces in the context of his artistic investigation and practice, he also develops a professional career as an editor, book-maker, curator and exhibition designer. In 2012, he was the recipient of the BES Revelação Photography Award and of an Honorable Mention at Novos Talentos Fnac Fotografia. In 2014, his work was mentioned for the best work selection at Plat(t)form - Fotomuseum Winterthur, and in 2015 he won the Jury Award at Festival A3 Bandas in Madrid. He is represented by Galeria Carlos Carvalho (Lisbon). He is currently based in Lisbon and Porto.
