Water is without exaggeration the most important substance on our planet. And the annual flagship United Nations World Water Development Report aims at highlighting one water-related issue each year. For the upcoming 2024 report the issue at hand is water as a catalyst for peace and prosperity. Onewater in close cooperation with UNESCO World Water Assessment Programme is organizing this contest to invite photographers from all over the world to showcase water’s role in building a more prosperous and peaceful world.
Onewater, under the patronage of the UNESCO World Water Assessment Programme, is thrilled to announce their third yearly photo contest, resonating with the theme of the 2024 United Nations World Water Development Report.
The contest primarily seeks to amplify:
Water's pivotal role in conflicts and its capability to serve as a beacon of peace, particularly in regions spanning multiple borders like river basins or groundwater reserves that traverse various nations or communities.
Prosperity and Peace as a result of technical cooperation and information sharing around water resources on all scales, including across countries, basin commissions, regions, cities, communities, cooperatives, etc.
The significance of water as the backbone of a vibrant ecosystem and society, emphasizing aspects like education, hygiene, agriculture, biodiversity, and tourism.
The 15 highest ranking works will be exhibited at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France. All submissions will be considered for inclusion in a printed photo book as well as publication via the Onewater website.
