Open Eye Gallery and Liverpool City Region Combined Authority announce a call for entries to Liverpool City Region Photo Awards 2025! The competition is open to anyone living in the city region (Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens, Wirral). Free online submission closes on 14 September. Winners' works will be a part of the Liverpool City Region Photo Awards 2025 exhibition at Open Eye Gallery in November.
Liverpool City Region is a place for photographers -- our varied landscapes and vibrant communities have led to images that have inspired visitors and locals alike. This year, as part of Combined Authority's 2025 Cultural Events Programme, six diverse groups including refugees and asylum seekers, members of the LGBTQI+ community and D/deaf and BSL users have been working with socially engaged photographers, presenting their stories and the stories of the areas they live in through six exhibitions across the city region.
This is the power of a photograph: to tell stories, to communicate beyond language, and connect instantly. Now Open Eye Gallery and Liverpool City Region Combined Authority are supporting the awards to celebrate the talent, creativity and vibrancy across our city region.

£500 (category winners)
£100 (commended)
Everyone living in the Liverpool City region (Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens, Wirral) can submit 3-8 images in one chosen category. Although we accept stand-alone photographs, we recommend the submitted images to be part of a single titled series. If chosen to exhibit, a selection of submitted images will be chosen by Open Eye Gallery.
The images don't have to be new: you can use your archives!
To submit, create a profile here on Picter: you will be then guided through the submission process with all the technical requirements.
The images can be taken anywhere at any time but it is important that you are currently living in the Liverpool City Region (Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens, Wirral).
Celebration
Something we celebrate is something we're publicly proud of - is there something not enough people celebrate? What do you want to tell absolutely everybody about?
Connecting
We connect to people, places, animals, plants and objects everyday, some more meaningful than others. How do you feel about these connections and how would you show them?
Futures
We all experience our climate and think about the future of our planet. What around you do you see as a positive? What would you like to keep for the future, and what would you like to change?
Shared space(s)
Where we choose to spend our time reveals a lot about a person and when shared, it can begin to represent the ideals or wants of a community. Your town, cafés, your friend's house, your favourite bench - every place holds hundreds of stories. Which stories will you choose?
Movement
Running clubs, dancing, travelling or the passing of time. Think creatively - what moves you?
Care
Care and caring looks different to each person. We can care for our friends, we can care for our communities, we can care for our environment. We can feel cared for. What does care look like for you?
