Peter Rauch
Peter Rauch
Head of the Department of Visual Communication Design, Academy of Fine Arts and Design, University of Ljubljana

Peter Rauch is an artist, theorist and Associate Professor of Photography at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, University of Ljubljana, where he heads the Department of Visual Communication Design. He trained as an architect before taking an MA in photography at Central Saint Martins, London. His work moves between the photographic document and spatial construction, dissecting the materiality of built objects, bodies and the relations between them. His exhibitions work as situations: interventions, public actions and reorganised gallery spaces that test how art is produced, shown and seen. His theoretical research deals with negation in the constitution of the object and with rupture in art, science and politics. Key works include Traffic Kids (2009), Objects (2010–2023), Community (2012–2013), Pavilion (MSUM, 2017), Cross-section (Škuc Gallery, 2018) and Public Matters (Galerija Ravne, 2025). He took part in the 9th and 10th editions of the U3 Triennial of Contemporary Art at the Museum of Modern Art in Ljubljana (2019, 2024). His monograph 2, 3 was published by Perimeter Editions in 2026. He co-founded Kela, a production space in Ljubljana, and co-edited Fotografija magazine.
