Emese Mucsi is a Hungarian-born curator, and art critic. Emese curates exhibitions where photography is interpreted in the context of contemporary art and works with artists who have an expanded idea of photography and produce photo-based works. Her projects bring together artists and photographers with photojournalists, writers, and other thinkers to experiment with new approaches to photography. She graduated from the Faculty of Contemporary Art Theory and Curatorial Studies at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts in 2013, and from the Faculty of Hungarian Literature and Linguistics at the University of Szeged in 2017. Emese has been a member of the curators' collective BÜRO imaginaire since 2012. Since 2013, she has been running projects as a freelance curator, and since 2018, she has served as a curator at the Robert Capa Contemporary Photography Center in Budapest. From March 2014 to January 2018, she was the Editor-in-Chief of Artmagazin Online. She is the member of Global Photographies Network since 2020. She founded the DOXA exhibition space and editorial den in 2022 and is a guest lecturer at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (2023) and the University of Szeged (2024).
Krzysztof Candrowicz is an Interdisciplinary curator, sociologist, researcher, project facilitator, and activist. Co-founder and member of the Foundation of Visual Education and Fotofestiwal in Lodz, former director of the Art Factory and Lodz Art Center (Poland). From 2013 to 2018 worked as artistic director of the Triennial of Photography in Hamburg (Germany), and from 2018 to 2024 he worked as curator and collaborator of the Ci.CLO Porto Biennale (Portugal). Krzysztof works internationally as a guest curator and visiting lecturer in numerous organisations, museums, schools, and European festivals. He has been a member of the jury of various projects and art prizes, including the Rencontres d’Arles Discovery Award (Arles, France), the Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize, (London, UK), the Prix Pictet (London, UK), the Historical Book Award, and the Author Book Award (Arles, France), and the Robert Capa Award (Budapest, Hungary). Besides being active in visual arts, his interests are rooted in philosophy, social science, anthropology, ecology, astronomy, and natural science.
Sandra Križić Roban holds a PhD in art history and is a critic, curator, lecturer, PhD mentor, and writer specializing in contemporary art, history and theory of photography, post-war architecture, and politics of public space and cultural memory. She is a senior scientific advisor in tenure at the Institute of Art History (Zagreb), and Assistant Professor of Culture of Memory at the Academy of Fine Arts, Zagreb, and of Photography and Visual Culture at Philosophical Faculty, Osijek. She served as the PI on the HRZZ project Ekspozicija – Themes and Aspects of Croatian Photography from the 19th Century until Today (2020–2024), and is the head of the Office for Photography, a non-profit association dedicated to contemporary photography (Zagreb). She has been awarded a fellowship by the Goethe-Institute, AICA, Styrian Provincial Government, DAAD and Getty International Program. Sandra authored a number of books, scientific articles and book chapters, published on photography, especially women’s, cultural migration and conceptual photography, trauma and alternative ways of memorisation. Her recent work includes contributions to W.G. Sebald’s Artistic Legacies: Memory, Word, and Image (Amsterdam University Press, 2023) and the co-edited volume Watching, Waiting: The Photographic Representation of Empty Places (Leuven University Press, 2023), with Ana Šverko. She hosted a number of retrospective exhibitions, as well as extensive thematic exhibitions, both in Croatia and abroad, recently focusing on women’s photography and conceptual photography, among them: Floodlit Room. Women's Photographic Practice in Croatia (Zagreb, 2023), Seeing Differently. Women and Photography in Croatia between 1950s and 1970s (Split, Zadar, 2021); ‘Soft’ Shooting? Women Photography in Croatia (Križevci, 2021, Zagreb, 2020).
Born in Bogotá, Colombia, Carol Körting began her career as a freelance photographer before studying photo editing at the Ostkreuz Schule für Fotografie in Berlin, Germany. She has served as a photo editor for the renowned Leica Fotografie International Magazine (LFI) and its online platform for over a decade, producing and editing countless photographic projects. As a professional portfolio reviewer, Körting has been a juror at numerous photography competitions. She also gives talks, workshops, and presentations on photo editing. Körting is particularly interested in documentary projects addressing contemporary issues. During portfolio reviews, she provides valuable feedback and guidance to help develop ongoing photography projects, regardless of the camera type used.
Fernanda Prado Verčič is the director of Kranj Foto Fest, and a journalist with over two decades of experience in the world of photography. Originating from São Paulo, Brazil, she has been based in Kranj, Slovenia, since 2011. Fernanda has been a player in connecting photographers to important venues in Slovenia and abroad. With a passion for discovering new works, she is constantly on the lookout for photographers who are pushing the boundaries of the medium and exploring new ways to tell their visual stories. What makes her move is to create opportunities for photographers to showcase their work. As a photo curator, producer, and festival director, Fernanda is deeply committed to fostering a community where artists, critics and audiences can come together and engage around photography in the city of Kranj. Her dream is to transform Kranj into a thriving platform for dialogue around contemporary photography in this part of Europe.
