IMAGES & NEIGE INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL – PHOTO CONTEST RULES 2025

Effective from June 1, 2025

ARTICLE 1 – ORGANIZER AND PURPOSE

The City of Cluses is organizing a photography contest as part of the Images & Neige International Festival. The competition runs from Sunday, June 1 to Tuesday, September 30, 2025. It aims to promote the festival and showcase photographic work on snow, cold, and ice.

ARTICLE 2 – THEME

Submitted photographs must relate to snow, cold, or ice.

Suggested categories include:

  • Sports or winter sports scenes (star category)

  • Urban scenes featuring ice and snow (star category)

  • People and snow/ice (staged or documentary)

  • Poetry and wonder of ice and snow

  • Abstract forms and graphic patterns

  • Ice and snow landscapes

  • Animals in winter

  • Other interpretations are welcome.

ARTICLE 3 – PRIZES

4 Exhibition Prize Winners

Each winner will have 3 images selected by the jury, printed on 40×60 cm aluminum dibond, framed, and exhibited at the 2026 edition of the festival (Jan. 30 – Feb. 1, 2026, in Cluses, France).

Exhibition images will be chosen from the submitted series. Winners may collect their prints at the end of the event (shipping not covered).

10 Honorable Mentions

Top 10 participants (jury ranking) will receive Honorable Mentions.

Special Awards

The jury may grant a "Jury's Favorite" and/or a Special Mention.

Selected names and images may be featured in the Festival's official portfolio and communications.

ARTICLE 4 – ELIGIBILITY

Open to photographers aged 16 and over, from any country, amateurs and professionals.

Minors must provide written consent from a legal guardian.

Not eligible:

  • Festival team members and their families

  • City of Cluses employees and their families

ARTICLE 5 – ENTRY FEES

A €20 entry fee applies per submission.

Each submission may include:

  • Up to 15 images

  • One or more series (min. 3 images)

  • Single images (eligible for Honorable Mentions)

  • Any mix of the above

ARTICLE 6 – DEADLINE

Entries must be submitted between June 1 and September 30, 2025 (11:59 PM CET).

ARTICLE 7 – IMAGE FORMAT AND SUBMISSION

Submissions are accepted only via the Picter platform.

Max 15 images per entry. Format: JPG, minimum 3,000 px on the long side.

Winners will later be required to submit high-res files for printing.

Accepted languages: English or French.

Naming convention:

  • Single images: LASTNAME_FIRSTNAME_PHOTONUMBER.jpg

  • Series: LASTNAME_FIRSTNAME–SERIESNAME–PHOTONUMBER.jpg

ARTICLE 8 – JURY AND SELECTION

The jury includes professionals from the field of photography, such as:

  • Frédéric Boiteux (Finalist – Meilleur Ouvrier de France Photography 2023)

  • Giandra de Castro (Fine Arts Director, La Gorge Cultural Center)

  • Festival patrons

  • City of Cluses representatives

ARTICLE 9 – COPYRIGHT & IMAGE RIGHTS

Participants must own full rights to submitted images and secure model releases where applicable.

Copyright remains with the author. By entering, participants grant non-exclusive rights for:

  • Festival communication (current and future editions)

  • Publication in the printed Festival Portfolio

No other use will be made without prior written consent.

The organizer will always credit the author and respect moral rights as defined by Article L.121-1 of the French Intellectual Property Code.

ARTICLE 10 – PERSONAL DATA

Personal data is collected solely for contest management and communication with participants, in accordance with the French Data Protection Act (6 January 1978, updated 6 August 2004).

Participants may request access, correction, or deletion of their data by writing to:

ARTICLE 11 – JURISDICTION

Participation implies full acceptance of these rules.

This contest is governed by French law. Any disputes not resolved amicably shall be submitted to the competent French courts.
