Helsinki Photo Festival reserves the right to reject entries that are submitted without the required information, or that do not meet the criteria of eligibility, without any obligation to enter into any further discussion regarding curator's decisions, and without obligation to refund the entrant's submission fee.
Submissions before or after the submission period will not be taken into consideration. It is vital that the photographer obtains the permission of the client and/or the copyright holder and any relevant model release forms, where appropriate before submitting the work.
The copyright of all images submitted remains with the copyright holder, and the photographer has the right to submit the work for selection, exhibition and/or publication and grants all required licenses. The Helsinki Photo Festival reserves the right to use any of the images submitted, without payment, for display and publicity purposes for this and future Helsinki Photo Festival projects. The artists grants to Helsinki Photo Festival a worldwide, irrevocable, and perpetual license to reproduce representative examples of the submitted entries in any of their publications, websites, and/or in any promotional material, strictly in connection with the Helsinki Photo Festival projects, and with reference to the photographer as relevant in each case.
When the festival is finished and the exhibition is dismantled, the photographer can collect all photos. This will be between October 12th to 20th October 2023 at set days and times. These will be advised at a future date and location. If the photographer doesn't collect the photos, they will automatically become the property of the association. There is no guarantee for the condition of the photos. A selection of photos will be kept and used afterwards for satellite events and foreign exhibitions, or as a give away for sponsors and supporters. Photos selected for other exhibitions can't be collected by the photographer.
The Open Call for the COURAGE exhibition takes into consideration for photographers to send their works for public display for indoor exhibitions. In such a case, the artist must cover all printing/framing and transportation costs if his or her works are selected for the COURAGE exhibitions. Your contribution will be insured in the period that they are exhibited in the Festival's main gallery.
Helsinki Photo Festival and Picter will not publish, share or redistribute any of the Work to any individuals or organisations external to us for the duration of the submission process or post-submission process.
Helsinki Photo Festival reserves complete creative control over the exhibition's design, including selection, layout, and hanging. All selected photos will be exhibited during the Helsinki Photo Festival either in indoor and/or outdoor exhibitions. The selected photos will be printed; all other photos will be digital except photographers who decide to cover all printing/framing and transportation costs for indoor exhibitions.
The selected photos will be printed by the association without any cost to the participating photographer, except artists decide to cover all printing/framing and transportation costs for indoor exhibitions.
The name of the photographer will be displayed under each photo by the Helsinki Photo Festival. Logos of partners and sponsors can also be included under the photo.
Photos can be selected and printed by the association and may be passed on to other exhibitions. These photos will remain the property of the Helsinki Photo Festival. We will notify the selected photographers by E-mail.
