Der Greif e.V., a non-profit organization located at Atelierstr. 18, 81671 Munich, Germany, recognized by German law (hereinafter referred to as “Der Greif”), is offering an open call for its special project “Visions for Europe: A Special Project by Der Greif”, held in collaboration with a private partner hosting a gathering at Das Tegernsee hotel, Germany. A total of 10 images from 10 photographers / artists will be selected and reproduced in DIN A5 format. Selected artists will receive a license fee of €100 each.
By submitting photographs to Der Greif, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms. These terms constitute an agreement between you and Der Greif. The entire submission and selection process is facilitated by Picter GmbH (picter.com, hereinafter referred to as “Picter”), and you are required to create an account at Picter and submit your work through Picter to Der Greif. You agree that both Picter’s Terms of Use and Privacy Policy supplement these terms and can be viewed at https://www.picter.com/terms-of-use.
The overarching theme for this open call is: "Visions for Europe: A Special Project by Der Greif: Democracy, innovation, and resilience for Europe’s future".
The deadline for submitting is April 17, 2025 (23:59 UTC+1). Der Greif reserves the right to change this deadline at any time.
Submissions are free or have a non-compulsory, voluntary donation of €9.00. If you are unable or unwilling to pay the donation, you may request a voucher for either a 50% or 100% discount at voucher-special-2@dergreif.org. The donation assists Der Greif in covering the expenses of this submission opportunity, not generating profits.
You may submit up to 5 photographs per submission. A detailed explanation of each step can be found on the introduction page of the submission process on Picter.
If your image(s) is (are) selected, Der Greif will reproduce them in DIN A5 format (digitally printed, non-editioned) and share them in the private rooms of event attendees at the Das Tegernsee gathering. This is an exclusive, non-commercial distribution aimed at fostering dialogue and reflection among the participating thought leaders.
By agreeing to these terms, you grant Der Greif a non-exclusive, non-revocable, and worldwide license to reproduce and distribute your selected image(s) for this special initiative and in any related Der Greif promotional materials (digital or print) for the duration of the project. You retain the right to use your image(s) elsewhere at any time.
Each of the ten selected artists will receive a license fee of €100. This fee recognizes your contribution and supports your artistic practice.
Your contribution will be credited by name or pseudonym (artist’s name) and, where feasible, include your URL.
Der Greif reserves the exclusive right to determine how your selected photographs are displayed in the project and in any related promotional materials. This includes potential cropping or juxtaposition with other works, creating new narratives.
You agree that your photographs will be archived, irrespective of selection. Should you wish to revoke this consent (for photographs that have not been licensed and selected), you may do so via email to »info@dergreif.org«. Upon revocation, the respective photographs will be deleted immediately following the conclusion of the project.
You bear full responsibility for the photographs you submit. Under no circumstances may the images contravene any applicable law or public policy of any jurisdiction or any third party rights (refer to paragraph 5.2 of the Picter Terms of Use at https://www.picter.com/terms-of-use).
Only your full name, or, should you prefer, your pseudonym (artist's name) and respective URL, will be published in the media specified under section 5.1. Der Greif's Privacy Policy applies where applicable and can be found at https://dergreif.org/privacy-policy.
All personal data provided during the registration and submission process will be stored for submission management, image administration, curation, organization, and statistical analysis. Any collection of statistical data will be conducted and utilized only in anonymized form. The Privacy Policies of both Picter (https://www.picter.com/privacy-policy) and Der Greif (https://dergreif.org/privacy-policy) are applicable.
You declare that you hold the sole copyright to all submitted photographs and agree to submit images from third parties only with explicit authorization from the respective copyright owners.
You confirm that you have obtained written consent, known as model releases, from all individuals depicted in the submitted photographs, or their legal guardians in the case of minors, allowing you to submit and license these images under the specified terms and for the purposes mentioned above. Additionally, you commit to providing these model releases to Der Greif upon request.
For street or public photography, you accept all responsibility for the display and further processing of your submitted photographs. Moreover, where relevant, you declare the right to submit images of places, buildings, landscapes, military sites or operations, means of transport, goods, and persons for publication as outlined in these terms.
Any use of generative artificial intelligence (“AI”) tools or AI-generated content in connection with your submission must strictly comply with all applicable copyright and intellectual property laws. You must not include any AI-generated material that infringes or potentially infringes upon any third party’s copyright or other intellectual property rights.
You affirm your sole responsibility for the submitted photographs and agree to indemnify Der Greif against any claims, losses, damages, or liabilities arising from your breach of these terms. This indemnity covers not only third-party claims but also any losses or damages incurred by Der Greif, including actions of any regulatory authorities.
The ineffectiveness or invalidity of one or more provisions of these terms does not affect the validity of the remaining clauses. Where feasible, any ineffective or invalid provision will be modified to reflect the original intent of the parties as closely as possible.
The place of general jurisdiction is Munich, Germany, and German law will be applied.
