Start submission

By clicking "Start Submission", you agree to be contacted by the host regarding this opportunity.

By submitting works to Der Greif for a possible publication in Der Greif’s Articles section (Photobook Feature), you acknowledge and agree to the following Conditions of Participation. These conditions constitute an agreement between you and Der Greif e.V., a non-profit organization located in Atelierstr. 18, 81671 Munich, Germany, recognized by German law (hereinafter referred to as "Der Greif"). The entire submission and selection process is facilitated by Picter (picter.com), and you are required to create an account at Picter and submit your work through Picter to Der Greif. You agree that both Picter's Terms of Use and Privacy Policy supplement these Conditions of Participation and can be viewed at https://www.picter.com/terms-of-use.

1 DEADLINE

The deadline for submissions is 31/03/2026 11:59 PM (UTC+1). Der Greif reserves the right to change this deadline at any time.

2 PARTICIPATION FEES

Submissions have a non-compulsory donation of €10.00. If you are unable or unwilling to pay the donation, you may request a voucher for a free submission at voucher-special@dergreif.org. The donation assists Der Greif in covering the expenses of this submission opportunity, not generating profits.

3 SUBMITTABLE WORKS

3.1 PHOTOBOOKS / ARTIST BOOKS

You may submit one photobook project per submission.

Submissions are made via Project A on Picter and should include:

  • A selection of representative spreads or pages
  • A short project description
  • Publication details (if already published), such as year, edition, and format

Eligible formats include, but are not limited to:

  • Published or self-published photobooks
  • Artist books
  • Zines or experimental publications
  • Book dummies or unpublished projects intended for publication

A detailed explanation of each step can be found on the introduction page of the submission process on Picter.

Photobooks that have previously been featured by Der Greif should not be resubmitted. Our aim is to avoid repetition and showcase new and unique work by featuring photobooks that have not yet been featured by Der Greif. Our ultimate goal is to support and provide opportunities to as many photographers as possible. Any submissions that do not comply with these conditions will not be considered for the selection process.

4 SUBMITTED WORKS

4.1 PUBLICATION OF SUBMITTED WORKS

If your photobook is selected, you authorize Der Greif to feature excerpts, images of spreads/pages, and descriptive text from your book on Der Greif’s website and communication channels, and to use the submitted materials for press, marketing, communication, and editorial purposes associated with Der Greif, and use, display or project your submitted materials in the context of Der Greif and on the Internet. Der Greif may archive and present the project in the context of Der Greif’s editorial program. Der Greif will provide credit by stating either your name or, upon your explicit request, your pseudonym (artist's name) and, if possible, your URL. You agree that Der Greif is exclusively entitled to make decisions on the display of the submitted works. You also agree that your works may be put into new contexts with other works and presented alone or in combination with other works. You acknowledge that Der Greif does not guarantee the publication of your submitted works and you waive all claims on remuneration.

4.2 ARCHIVING SUBMITTED WORKS

You agree that your submitted materials will be archived regardless of selection. You may revoke this consent via email to »info@dergreif.org«. In case of a revocation the respective materials will be deleted after the end of the project. Works that have been published online will remain visible.
