

Der Greif e.V., a non-profit organization located at Atelierstr. 18, 81671 Munich, Germany, recognized by German law (hereinafter referred to as "Der Greif"), and Fondament gemeinnützige GmbH (gGmbH), located at Köthener Straße 38, 10963 Berlin, Germany (hereinafter referred to as "Fondament"), are joining forces for the project "Ich seh' etwas, was du nicht siehst" (hereinafter referred to as "Ich seh' etwas"). The project explores new ways of seeing social interactions in Germany through photography, inviting participants to share their perspectives. Submitted works may be featured across various platforms including online, print media, social media, newsletters, projections, exhibitions, and press communications.
By submitting works to Der Greif and Fondament for a possible publication in the context of "Ich seh etwas", you acknowledge and agree to the following Conditions of Participation. These conditions constitute an agreement between you and Der Greif and Fondament. The entire submission and selection process is facilitated by Picter (picter.com), and you are required to create an account at Picter and submit your work through Picter to “Ich seh’ etwas”. You agree that both Picter's Terms of Use and Privacy Policy supplement these Conditions of Participation and can be viewed at https://www.picter.com/terms-of-use.
The theme for the open call is "Ich seh' etwas, was du nicht siehst".
The deadline for submitting is September 1st 2026 (11:59 PM CEST). Der Greif and Fondament reserve the right to change this deadline at any time.
No submission fee is applicable.
You can submit a restricted number of photographs and photo-based artworks: which is 1–10 photographs. Submissions may be accompanied by the following information: title (at least place and year), name (optional), age, location, and a short description. A detailed explanation of each step can be found on the introduction page of the submission process on Picter.
If your work is selected, you grant Der Greif and Fondament a perpetual, royalty free, non-revocable, non-exclusive license to use, display, publish, and project your works in any format across the following channels:
Der Greif and Fondament will provide credit by stating either your name or, upon your explicit request, your pseudonym (artist's name). Additionally, where possible, your URL will be included as an optional acknowledgment. You agree that Der Greif and Fondament are exclusively entitled to make decisions on the display of the submitted works. You also agree that your works may be put into new contexts with other works and presented alone or in combination with other works. You acknowledge that Der Greif and Fondament do not guarantee the publication of your submitted works and you waive all claims on remuneration (except where explicitly stated under section 5.3).
You agree that your works will be archived, irrespective of selection and publication. Should you wish to revoke this consent (for works that have not been selected), you may do so via email to info@dergreif.org. Upon revocation, the respective works will be deleted immediately following the conclusion of the project. Any works not chosen for publication by either Der Greif or Fondament will remain unused in any capacity, ensuring that you retain full ownership and rights.
Three outstanding submissions will be recognized with each EUR 1,000.00. Prize amounts are net of VAT where applicable. Details on the selection process and prize distribution will be communicated separately. In addition, an extended selection of works (the shortlist) will be published on the websites and social media channels of Der Greif and Fondament.
If your work is selected for inclusion in a print publication, produced in the context of the open call, you will receive a complimentary copy, shipped at no charge to the postal address you provided during the submission process.
You bear full responsibility for the works you submit. Under no circumstances may the submitted works contravene any applicable law or public policy of any jurisdiction or any third party rights (refer to paragraph 5.2 of the Picter Terms of Use at https://www.picter.com/terms-of-use).
Only your full name (or pseudonym/artist's name upon request), age, location, and respective URL will be published in the media specified under section 5.1, as well as in accompanying informational material (print and digital). Der Greif's Privacy Policy applies and can be found at https://dergreif.org/privacy-policy.
All personal data provided during the registration and submission process will be stored for submission management, work administration, curation, organization, and statistical analysis. Any collection of statistical data will be conducted and utilized only in anonymized form. The Privacy Policies of both Picter (https://www.picter.com/privacy-policy) and Der Greif (https://dergreif.org/privacy-policy) are applicable.
You declare that you are the sole copyright owner of all submitted works and agree to submit works from third parties only if you have explicit authorization from the respective copyright holders.
You confirm that you have obtained consent from all individuals depicted in the submitted photographs (or their legal guardians in the case of minors), allowing you to submit and license these images under the specified terms.
For street or public photography, you accept all responsibility for the display and further processing of your submitted works. Moreover, where relevant, you declare the right to submit images of places, buildings, landscapes, military sites or operations, means of transport, goods, and persons for publication as outlined in these Conditions of Participation.
If you are under the age of 18, your participation requires the consent of a parent or legal guardian. Der Greif and Fondament reserve the right to request proof of parental consent at any time, and must receive such proof before any selected work is published.
You affirm your sole responsibility for the submitted works and agree to indemnify Der Greif and Fondament against any claims, losses, damages, or liabilities arising from your breach of these Conditions of Participation. This indemnity covers not only third-party claims but also any losses or damages incurred by Der Greif and Fondament, including actions of any regulatory authorities.
The unenforceability or invalidity of one or more clauses in these Conditions of Participation shall not affect any other clause in these Conditions of Participation. If possible, any unenforceable or invalid clause in these Conditions of Participation shall be modified to reflect the original intention of the parties.
The place of general jurisdiction is Munich, Germany, and German law will be applied.
