Open to professionals working in journalism or documentary photography.
Two grant categories:
$30,000 Grant for established professionals.
$5,000 Grant for photographers under 30 years of age.

Opening Date: 19th December 2025
Closing Date: 16th April 2026, 23:59 GMT.
Submissions received after the closing date will not be considered.
The organizers reserve the right to extend the closing date if necessary.
All entries must be submitted via the official competition website (Picter).
Submissions must focus on an in-progress project.
Still images are required; additional media like video or drawings may be included to enrich the narrative.
Entrants must provide accurate personal details for communication purposes.
Entrants retain full copyright over their submitted work.
Entrants must confirm that their work is original and that they hold all necessary permissions, including from identifiable individuals and property owners.
Entrants indemnify the organizers against claims related to copyright or permission issues.
Entrants grant a non-exclusive license to the organizers to reproduce and display work for competition-related purposes, including exhibitions, publications, and promotions.
Prints made for touring exhibitions will remain the property of the organizers.
Entrants retain full commercial rights outside the scope of competition-related activities.

Technical skill
Originality
Creativity
Relevance to the competition theme
Shortlisted entrants must provide additional materials, including artist statements, upon request.
Judges' decisions are final.
Shortlisted Entrants Notified: May 2026.
Finalist Interviews: June 2026.
Winners Announced: July 2026, at Cortona On The Move Festival.
Final Work Delivered: 15th March 2027, for exhibition in July 2027.
Total cash prizes: $40,000.
1 x $30,000 grant for the main winner.
2 x $5,000 grants for emerging photographers.
Professional and emerging Winners will have their work exhibited at Cortona On The Move in July 2027.
Travel and accommodation for the Professional Winner to attend the festival will be covered.
Entrants agree to participate in promotional activities, including exhibitions and media coverage.
Personal data will be stored securely and used solely for competition-related purposes in accordance with data protection laws.
Organizers reserve the right to modify these terms, withdraw inappropriate entries, or disqualify entries that breach rules.
Entries cannot be withdrawn after submission unless significant permission issues arise.
Entrants release organizers from claims or damages arising from participation in the competition.
