The Getxophoto International Image Festival is organised by Begihandi Kultur Elkartea, a non-profit organisation.

Deadline

The submission deadline for the 2027 Getxophoto Open Call is November 3, 2026, 11:59 p.m. CET (UTC+1). The deadline may be extended at Begihandi / Getxophoto's sole discretion.

Participation fee

A fee of €22 must be paid for each submitted project.

Judging criteria

An international jury will decide by mutual agreement on the shortlisted projects and the winners of the Open Call. The selection will consider artistic criteria, the conceptual development of the submitted work, and its relevance and appropriateness to the proposed theme. Gender parity and inclusion criteria will also be taken into account. The jury's decision will be final.

Prizes

The Festival will cover the exhibition costs for the three winners, as well as a €500 fee per project (taxes included), a travel allowance (€150 for international artists and €100 for national artists), and accommodation for two nights during the Opening Week of Getxophoto Festival 2027*.

*Only the days required by the organisation for the artists' participation will be covered. Additional supplements (double rooms, per diems, etc.) will be paid by each guest.

Exhibition

The size, format and content of the exhibition will be defined by mutual agreement between the artists, the curator and the organisation. The organisation will define and manage the budget, as well as the venues and communication around the projects.

Authorisations & Rights

–Copyright remains with the artist at all times.

–Entrants must confirm that they are the authors and copyright owners of all images / work submitted and that their work doesn't infringe the privacy, copyright or any other rights of any person.

–Entrants guarantee that they have the explicit consent of all people pictured in their submitted images / work (or their legal guardian, in the case of children) to exhibit and publish the images as described in these terms and conditions.

–By participating, entrants agree that their selected entries may be reproduced by Begihandi / Getxophoto in its publications, website, social media and / or any promotional material, always with due credit and solely for promotional (non-commercial) use. Some images from each selected entry may also be released to the press to illustrate articles or reports covering the Open Call or the Getxophoto Festival. In such cases, the organisation will not be required to pay any additional fee or seek any further approval.

Personal Data

–Publication of personal data

The entrant agrees that their full name, place of birth and website URL may be published together with their submission. Further contact information will not be published.

–Storage of personal data
All personal data provided during the registration and submission process will be stored by the organisers for the management and selection of entries, as well as for statistical purposes in an anonymous form. Personal data will not be forwarded to third parties, and the Picter platform is compliant with the EU General Data Protection Regulation.

–Archiving submissions
The entrant agrees that submissions will be archived, regardless of whether they are selected. The entrant may revoke this consent via e-mail (to info@getxophoto.com). In case of revocation, the corresponding images will be deleted after the end of the selection process.

Liability

–Begihandi / Getxophoto accepts no responsibility for entries that are lost or damaged in transit, or for any problems or technical malfunctions affecting any device, system, server, provider or software, human error, or any combination of the above. Begihandi / Getxophoto reserves the right to reject entries that are submitted without the required information, or that do not meet the eligibility criteria.

–Begihandi / Getxophoto reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions, and any changes will be communicated to the public with due notice. If for any reason a selected participant is unable to exhibit as planned, the participant must notify the organisers by January 2027 at the latest.

–Begihandi / Getxophoto reserves the right to deal with any aspect not foreseen in these terms and conditions in the way it deems appropriate. In the event of insurmountable disagreements between the artist and Begihandi / Getxophoto, the organisation reserves the right to withdraw the work from the exhibition.
