Google’s Creator Labs and Aperture are pleased to launch the 2023 Creator Labs Photo Fund - an initiative providing financial support to encourage artists at formative moments in their careers. Started in 2021, this second season of the Creator Labs Photo Fund will support a greater selection of artists, with grants provided to 30 artists for new work created in the past three years.
Thirty selected artists will be awarded a prize of $6,000 each, and will be featured on aperture.org and across Aperture's social media channels
Creator Labs supports artists in the production of important personal work. Founded in 2019 as a partnership between Google & SN37, participating photographers and filmmakers are selected for their ability to author distinct, concentrated visual narratives with an authentic point of view. The Creator Labs Photo Fund was formed out of a desire to extend the mission & message of Creator Labs to the wider creative community. It is increasingly important and vital to provide support to the creative community— to continue their practice, and have their narratives reverberate, for years to come.
Aperture, a not-for-profit foundation, connects the photo community and its audiences with the most inspiring work, the sharpest ideas, and with each other---in print, in person, and online. Created in 1952 by photographers and writers as "common ground for the advancement of photography," Aperture today is a multi-platform publisher and center for dialogue within the photo community.
All artists applying for the Creator Labs Photo Fund must meet the following requirements:
