The Bergger Analog Photography Prize is aimed at emerging photographers using black and white analog photography as a means of expression and aims to be a springboard for new photographic writing in black and white.
5 500€ worth of exhibition production, Grand Prize Winner | Shortlisted artists receive a 100€ voucher on Bergger website.
Grand Prize: A one year exhibition at the Pavillon des Lettres, a literary hotel in the heart of Paris, as part of a dedicated residency for showcasing the winner's work. Vernissage is planned on Thursday October 30th, 6pm.
Darkroom printing of the 25 images series with Fred Goyeau, master printer of Sebastiao Salgado and Sophie Calle, on Bergger Baryta paper of your choice.
Darkroom printing 3 days workshop at Fred's Lab, worth of 1500 €. We believe the darkroom printing is a central step into the production of photography exhibition. The winner must be available to come to Paris for 3 days minimum between October 15th and 28th.
Up to 400€ for transport expenses and 1 night at the hotel Pavillon des Lettres
Promotion and support by Bergger, the only French manufacturer of photographic films, paper and chemistry.
Publication and communication across Bergger's and partners' channels.
Visibility through a jury composed of renowned figures from the fields of photography, publishing, and visual arts.
The jury will evaluate the projects based on the following criteria:
Personal perspective and uniqueness of artistic expression.
Coherent development of narrative and project concept.
Innovation in technical approach and execution.
Bergger Analog Photography Prize is open themed. We greatly encourage submissions from artists working with black and white analog photography across all forms of photographic art: this includes, but is not limited to, storytelling, narrative, social documentary, construction, archival, conceptual or theoretical practices. It can also be collage, photograms, chemigrams. Submissions must be photographic or lens-based but, and may result in unique artworks.
The final selection of artists from the open call will be made in collaboration between the Jury and the director of the hotel. At least 20 artists will be invited to participate in the Bergger Photo Prize 2025 exhibition in November.
The Winner will be announced on October 15th. Successful entrants will be notified by email in early-October 2025 with information regarding the following steps towards online publication and the exhibition. A list of selected applicants and awardees will be published on Bergger’s social media channels and website. The decision on successful entrants is final.
